The contract situation between the Buffalo Bills and Darwin Walker is no longer an issue. ESPN’s John Clayton reports that the team sent Walker to Chicago for a fifth-round draft pick.
If Walker had not reached a new contract with Buffalo by August 5, he would have returned to Philadelphia for a sixth-round pick, so the return is lightly better.
So overall from the Takeo Spikes and Kelly Holcomb trade, Buffalo has a fifth-round and seventh-round draft pick.
Walker wanted a new contract and Marv Levy wasn’t going to give him one without playing a down in Buffalo.
Perhaps the emerging play of John McCargo in camp made Walker tradable.

I was hoping that the Eagles would get a chance to make this trade, but at least they did not have to take a cap hit, and loose a 6th round pick. The Bears are a good fit for Darwin, and I bet he does well there.
